What is it?
Essential oil dilution is the process of mixing concentrated essential oils into a carrier oil (such as jojoba, sweet almond, or coconut oil) at a safe percentage. Undiluted application can cause skin sensitisation, burns, or allergic reactions.
How to use
Enter the volume of carrier oil you have, select the appropriate dilution percentage for your intended use, and optionally adjust the drops-per-mL for your specific dropper. The calculator gives you the exact drop count needed.
Example scenario
Making a 30 mL lavender body oil at 2% dilution: you need 12 drops of lavender essential oil. For a 10 mL facial serum at 1%, that is just 2 drops of essential oil.
Pro tip
For blends using multiple essential oils, the total drops from all oils combined should equal the calculated amount. E.g., for 12 drops at 2%, you could use 6 drops lavender + 4 drops frankincense + 2 drops rose.
