Net Promoter Score (NPS) Calculator

Calculate your Net Promoter Score from survey responses, with breakdown of Promoters, Passives, and Detractors, and NPS benchmark interpretation.

Results

Net Promoter Score (NPS)45.0
Promoters60.0 %
Passives25.0 %
Detractors15.0 %
Total Respondents100

📖What is it?

NPS = % Promoters − % Detractors. Respondents rate the question "How likely are you to recommend us?" from 0–10. Scores 9–10 = Promoters; 7–8 = Passives (excluded from NPS); 0–6 = Detractors. NPS ranges from −100 to +100. Bain & Company benchmarks: Below 0 = needs improvement; 0–30 = good; 30–70 = great; 70+ = world-class.

🎯How to use

Count the number of survey respondents who gave each rating group and enter them into the three fields. The calculator divides by total respondents to get percentages, then subtracts.

💡Example scenario

100 responses: 60 Promoters, 25 Passives, 15 Detractors. Promoter % = 60%. Detractor % = 15%. NPS = 60 − 15 = 45. This is a "great" score — typical of strong consumer brands and tech companies.

🏆Pro tip

NPS is a leading indicator of growth — companies with NPS > 50 tend to grow 2× faster than competitors. Run NPS at least quarterly and segment by customer type, region, or product to identify where experience is breaking down. Always follow up with detractors to understand root causes.
