What is it?
The Party Drink Calculator estimates how many bottles of wine, cans of beer, and milliliters of spirits you need to purchase for a party. It factors in the number of drinking guests, event length, and average consumption rate.
How to use
Enter the total number of guests, how long the party will last, what percentage of guests typically drink alcohol, and the average number of drinks per person per hour. The calculator splits the total drinks into 35% wine, 45% beer, and 20% spirits.
Example scenario
A 3-hour birthday party with 30 guests, 80% drinkers, and 1.5 drinks/hour produces 36 drinking guests x 1.5 x 3 = 162 drinks. That translates to roughly 12 bottles of wine, 73 beers, and 1,426 ml of spirits.
Pro tip
Always buy 10% more than the estimate. It is better to have leftovers than to run dry. Most unopened, sealed bottles can be returned to the store. Also plan for designated drivers by providing quality non-alcoholic options.
