📖What is it?

Pot odds represent the ratio of the call amount to the total pot after calling, expressed as a percentage. Your equity is the probability your hand will win at showdown. A call is profitable when your equity exceeds the pot odds you are getting better value than the odds you are paying.

🎯How to use

Enter the current pot size, the amount you need to call, and your outs (e.g. 9 outs for a flush draw). The calculator shows your pot odds, estimated equity using the Rule of 2 and 4, and whether calling is mathematically profitable.

💡Example scenario

Pot is $100, opponent bets $30 (you must call $30 into a $130 total pot). Pot odds = 23.1%. You have a flush draw (9 outs) with two cards to come: equity approximately 9 x 4 = 36%. Since 36% > 23.1%, calling is profitable. If there is only one card to come: equity = 9 x 2 = 18% a fold may be correct.

🏆Pro tip

The Rule of 4 (multiply outs by 4 with 2 cards to come) and Rule of 2 (multiply by 2 with 1 card to come) are approximations accurate to within 1-2%. Common draws: flush draw = 9 outs, open-ended straight draw = 8 outs, gutshot straight = 4 outs. Always consider implied odds the additional chips you can win if you hit your draw and your opponent pays you off.
