What is it?
The Wedding Cake Serving Calculator estimates how many standard dessert portions a 3-tier wedding cake yields. It uses a standard 1.5" x 2" dessert slice (3 sq in area) for both round and square tiers at a typical 4" height.
How to use
Choose the cake shape (round or square), enter the diameter of each tier, and the calculator automatically determines servings per tier and the total. Compare total servings against your guest count to confirm you have enough cake.
Example scenario
A round cake with 12", 9", and 6" tiers produces approximately 38 + 21 + 9 = 68 servings. For a 100-guest wedding you would need larger tiers or additional sheet cake from the kitchen.
Pro tip
Many couples save the top tier for their first anniversary. Factor this in by treating the top tier as unavailable. How cleanly the cake is cut dramatically affects yield. Fondant-covered cakes tend to slice more cleanly than buttercream.
